Emergency Food Assistance Program

Providing food and clothing to the needy

LSS's emergency foodbank pantry gives direct distriution to needy clients, including low income families and the homeless. Our Foodbank regularly receives an "A" rating by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health for strict adherence to food handling standards. Service is provided Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Each applicant is interviewed to assess needs and to verify information. Our food bags are designed to provide a generous, nutritious balanced supply of food to help families make ends meet, but also to help our clients help themselves for the future. Volunteers are needed to pick up donated food, sort food at our pantry and help with other jobs that help to alleviate the hunger of our families and individuals and the communities of the San Fernando Valley. Referrals are made to in-house programs and to collaborating organizations for further assistance towards self-sufficiency.
