Washing Clothes to Serve Others

A quick glance at the image above suggests it was taken at an ordinary residence in any Southern California neighborhood. For Orange County LSS Community Care Program Manager, Bea Rea, lavish giving is a year-round occurrence. It’s what she and husband, Ray, provide with profound joy. The Garden Grove Food Pantry offers much more than nourishing food; it offers a place for those […]

War on Poverty

LSS – War on Poverty for 68 Years

This week we are reflecting on the 50th anniversary of President Lyndon Johnson’s “War on Poverty”. Think about our national discomfort as we disengage from a ten year war in Afghanistan / Iraq – can you imagine if this war – or any war – was still going on after 50 years? So why is […]

One Meal at a Time

Throughout the holiday season, it is fairly easy to come across stories of gift giving, great acts of service and helping others. These stories are inspirational and a highlight of the season year after year.  However, we feel blessed to be an organization that can see and hear stories like these all year long, because of those […]

Ambassadors are short-term volunteers who open doors for our organization in the community, introducing new people at our bi-monthly Fostering Community Care event. These are one hour awareness events only (no solicitations are made) to expose people to the great work of LSS Community Care. To become an Ambassador here are your responsibilities:
  1. 1 – Attend at least one Fostering Community Care event during the calendar year
  2. 2 – Host or invite and bring 10-15 guests to one Fostering Community Care event within 3 months of your attending one yourself.
  3. 3 – Inform your invited guests of what the Fostering Community Care meeting will be about, and let them know that they will receive a follow up call from the organization
  4. 4 – Ambassadors will complete their commitment after bringing 10-15 persons within the 3 month time period. An Ambassador has the option to complete after one term, continue for another 3 month term or move into another role on the team.
