The Shower of Hope

Trinity Lutheran - Riverside 5969 Brockton Ave, Riverside, California

Over 2,000 Free Showers a month doesn’t describe the impact that we have. From giving people the chance to be clean and healthy, an integral part of our mission is to provide a sense of dignity back to our unhoused Angelenos.

When we operate a site, we don’t just offer showers; we work with community partners to ensure that every guest that comes to our sites have access to meals, clothing, hygiene items, and more importantly, case management. While we recognize showers as a critical need, our goal is to offer our unhoused Angelenos a path out of homelessness and to bring our community together.

God’s work. Our hands – 2022

This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.

Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.

Long Beach Gives

Long Beach Gives is an annual, citywide, online giving event to raise awareness and inspire community giving for the critical services provided by Long Beach nonprofits.

The Shake Out 2022

International ShakeOut Day is always the third Thursday of October (this year: October 20). While COVID-19 has brought many uncertainties and challenges, one thing's for sure: ShakeOut is still happening this year!

As always, you can hold your #ShakeOut drill when and where you want. You can choose another date or several dates, and include people in multiple locations (home, work, or school), perhaps through video conferencing. It's a good idea to practice earthquake safety in different situations each year!

Giving Tuesday

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Ambassadors are short-term volunteers who open doors for our organization in the community, introducing new people at our bi-monthly Fostering Community Care event. These are one hour awareness events only (no solicitations are made) to expose people to the great work of LSS Community Care. To become an Ambassador here are your responsibilities:
  1. 1 – Attend at least one Fostering Community Care event during the calendar year
  2. 2 – Host or invite and bring 10-15 guests to one Fostering Community Care event within 3 months of your attending one yourself.
  3. 3 – Inform your invited guests of what the Fostering Community Care meeting will be about, and let them know that they will receive a follow up call from the organization
  4. 4 – Ambassadors will complete their commitment after bringing 10-15 persons within the 3 month time period. An Ambassador has the option to complete after one term, continue for another 3 month term or move into another role on the team.
