LSSSC Celebrates new program with Avanti Program and Mental Health Awareness Month in Big Bear Event

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to break down stigma, uplift communities, and connect people to the resources they need to thrive. At Lutheran Social Services of Southern California (LSSSC), we’re honoring this month with two powerful initiatives: the launch of our Avanti Housing Navigation Program and a vibrant Mental Health Awareness Fair in Big Bear.

New Avanti Housing Navigation Program: Housing Stability for Adults with Developmental Disabilities

LSSSC is proud to announce the soft launch of our Avanti Housing Navigation Program, designed specifically to support adults with developmental disabilities in the East Los Angeles, San Gabriel–Pomona, and Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center communities.

Set to roll out by the end of April 2025, the program helps eligible individuals (ages 18+) secure and maintain long-term housing through:

  • Personalized housing search support

  • Referrals to vital community resources

  • Advocacy with landlords and housing agencies

  • Education for individuals and families on housing rights and responsibilities

This program exists to address a critical need: helping those most vulnerable achieve stability, dignity, and independence through safe housing.
