Weariness… Isolation… Vulnerability

When you give to LSS this #GivingTuesday, we are asking you to go beyond your comfort zone to help us meet real tangible needs at all our LSS locations. Our goal this year is to raise $250,000 to go beyond our clients’ greatest expectations and meeting their needs.

You can help ensure we can go Beyond Weariness, Beyond Isolation and Beyond Vulnerability and meet the needs of the poor, underserved and powerless in our communities regardless of race, creed or orientation.

Make a one-time donation or multiply your giving by setting up your own fundraising page.

We provide tangible goods and services such as food pantries, hot meals, clothing, emergency vouchers, school or hygiene packs, and other short-term assistance programs, including rapid rehousing for homeless clients.

For more intentional case management, LSS operates programs for seniors, and also low-income first generation American students to keep them in high school, and mentor them in college. We also provide resources for veterans, job training for the unemployed, financial literacy and housing counseling strategies.

LSS offers behavioral health services, including one-on-one counseling for victims of domestic violence and abuse, wraparound programs for children and families in frightening circumstances, and supportive services for intellectually and physically challenged adults. LSS is prepared for a humanitarian response to any natural or man-made disaster.

What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving back. On Tuesday, December 3, 2019 people all around the world celebrate and encourage generosity by contributing charitable donations to nonprofits. It’s a great way to offset all the focus on consumption around the holidays and is a great way to kick off the giving season.

Why Give to LSS Giving Tuesday?

LSS of Southern California goes beyond what most people think when it comes to the many ways we care for our SoCal communities. LSS is well known for our food pantries and clothes closets, but that is just the beginning. Today we are present in six Southern California counties, where we operate over 75 different programs in three primary categories; embracing, equipping, and empowering.

Ambassadors are short-term volunteers who open doors for our organization in the community, introducing new people at our bi-monthly Fostering Community Care event. These are one hour awareness events only (no solicitations are made) to expose people to the great work of LSS Community Care. To become an Ambassador here are your responsibilities:
  1. 1 – Attend at least one Fostering Community Care event during the calendar year
  2. 2 – Host or invite and bring 10-15 guests to one Fostering Community Care event within 3 months of your attending one yourself.
  3. 3 – Inform your invited guests of what the Fostering Community Care meeting will be about, and let them know that they will receive a follow up call from the organization
  4. 4 – Ambassadors will complete their commitment after bringing 10-15 persons within the 3 month time period. An Ambassador has the option to complete after one term, continue for another 3 month term or move into another role on the team.
Become an Ally
