The Avanti program in Pasadena serves developmentally challenged adults. Our disabled adult clients engage the community through social and volunteer opportunities. We offer a range of services including recreational, educational, and one-on-one interaction with youth, seniors, and other neighborhood residents. Click here to visit our San Gabriel Valley / Pasadena office.

Our Long Beach/South Bay center serves more than 1,000 people each month providing emergency assistance such as food, clothing, hygiene items, and blankets. After client intake, we refer many to additional resources throughout the community. We also offer disability and housing benefit assistance to homeless families, individuals, and veterans through our County Wide Benefits Team (CBEST). Click here to visit our Long Beach / South Bay center.

Our San Fernando Valley/Granada Hills CalAIM (California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal) Community Supports program assists individuals or families facing homelessness or at risk of it. Housing Navigators collaborate with eligible members in locating, applying for, and securing housing, considering factors such as income, rental history, and available low-income housing options in Los Angeles County.

Eligible members also receive support for housing-related expenses such as security deposits, utility setup fees, initial move-in fees, and essential items for a safe move-in. Once housed, members continue to receive assistance in maintaining a stable tenancy, including addressing landlord issues, assisting with annual housing recertification, and connecting members to needed services. The CalAIM Community Supports program at LSSSC provides several key services:

  1. Housing Navigation: This service is designed to assist individuals in finding suitable housing.
  2. Housing Deposits: The services assist individuals in identifying, coordinating, securing, and funding one-time security deposits and modifications needed to establish a basic household.
  3. Tenancy Services: These services support former individuals who experience homelessness by maintaining safe and stable tenancy once they have secured housing.

**It’s important to note that this program does not offer housing subsidies or vouchers. Instead, we focus on providing support and linkage to housing subsidy services.

Ambassadors are short-term volunteers who open doors for our organization in the community, introducing new people at our bi-monthly Fostering Community Care event. These are one hour awareness events only (no solicitations are made) to expose people to the great work of LSS Community Care. To become an Ambassador here are your responsibilities:
  1. 1 – Attend at least one Fostering Community Care event during the calendar year
  2. 2 – Host or invite and bring 10-15 guests to one Fostering Community Care event within 3 months of your attending one yourself.
  3. 3 – Inform your invited guests of what the Fostering Community Care meeting will be about, and let them know that they will receive a follow up call from the organization
  4. 4 – Ambassadors will complete their commitment after bringing 10-15 persons within the 3 month time period. An Ambassador has the option to complete after one term, continue for another 3 month term or move into another role on the team.
